Reading Chairs

My dad is a radiologist and has a pretty nice set up in his home office/reading room, the only thing missing a sweet chair. I have seen some pretty high tech looking chairs in the hospital reading rooms, and wanted to know if you guys had any recs and/or know where I can get a good deal. His birthday is around the corner and I wanted to get him a good one.

My department uses a number of different chairs made by Champion. I prefer the fully upholstered ones, but most people seem to prefer the mesh. Beware, however, even the cheap ones cost $700-$800. A really nice one can easily be over $1000. As much as I love my father, that's more than I'd be willing to spend on a birthday present.

does he have one of those desks that you can elevate/depress the height? those are sweet.

Yeah, I know the chairs are expensive as hell, but i figure he sits in it for God knows how many hours, so its money well spent...also, I have two brothers to split it with, so it wont hurt that much.

I'll look into the Champion chairs, anyone else have any recs.

Our department uses Herman Miller Aeron chairs, which I love.

They're also in the $800+ range, though.

I have two chairs in my room right now. I do a lot of sitting and reading everyday so I switch between the two. I have an $800 Steelcase Leap and a $180 True Innovations Executive chair.

The Leap is highly adjustable and but not as "plush" as the TI chair. I would say if you can easily drop $800 then go for the Leap in leather or the Aeron chair people have mentioned here.

The TI chair is a great chair for the price. They carry them at Costco so you can try them out if you're on a budget.

You can find them craigslist for < $600.
