The kaplan blue book gives you 50 min for 50 questons. Isn't the real DAT 60 min for 50 questions? also, how much harder is the real DAT reading?

It's 50 mins for 50 questions. I don't know if I lucked out, but the passages I got were not too bad, maybe even a bit easier than Kaplan's.

this is from the ADA website...
The DAT battery includes:

Survey of Natural Sciences 90 Minutes
Perceptual Ability Test 60 Minutes
Break (optional) 15 Minutes
Reading Comprehension Test 60 Minutes
Quantitative Reasoning Test 45 Minutes

has anyone taken the DAT and only gotten 50 min?

unless it's on paper, there's no reason why u shouldn't get the whole 60 mins.

I got 60 mintues. In my practice tests I was getting articles with 12-15 paragraphs. On the real thing, I got 2 of them that were 18 paragraphs long! That scared me at first. Plus, one of them was a stock market one. It was tough, but I got a 23 on the section and that was pretty close to in-line with what my practice tests were like.

I didn't practice for RC at all. I ended up with a 17. It's not that bad at all. I don't know where I messed up. I really thought I got at least an 18 if not a 19. My advice, read the questions carefully I guess. But I didn't find any question difficult, and I had PLENTY of time to go over certain questions. I'm not even a fast reader, you don't have to be - just skim through, and absorb, absorb, absorb!

No. The real DAT is 50? with 60 minutes. It's usually 3 passages that make up the 50 questions (apx 17? each passage).

The paper test WAS 50? with 50 minutes. No more paper. It's on computer, so you can't underline and circle words! It's not that bad, however. Read up on popular science/medical topics, e.g. AIDS, genetics, diseases, diabetes...read like the medical articles in Newsweek, Cell magazine, spend some time in the periodicals at the library. You can almost guarantee you will get a topic you are "familiar" with but may know not much about.

I have to retake, but I think I will be better prepared this time.
