As a medical student in ophthalmology, when I have wanted to learn more about a subject, I've found myself turning to Yanoff & Duker, Kanski, or even other more in-depth books (i.e. Ryan's Retina, albert and jakobiec).

What do most residents end up using for texts? What have people found to be helpful?

Also, when I was a third year, I did USMLE World questions for each block that I was in to get as much practice as possible. Do people do anything like this during residency, or is there just not enough time to do questions except right before OKAPs?

Currently a PGY-2. I still love Kanski Clinical Ophthalmology, I skimmed most of it before I started residency and it helped me out a lot. My program essentially requires us to read the BCSC, which is fine but can be a bit lengthy at times. However, it seems to be the best source if you are concerned about OKAPs, since supposedly the questions come from there. In terms of review books, Friedman's Review of Ophthalmology is popular, it has a dense outline format similar to First Aid. There are some review question books as well, Chern is popular. And now there are websites like ophthoquestions.com that people are starting to use.
