I'm scheduled to take the DAT in 1.5 weeks. I'm also planning on applying this summer and my app is complete other than my DAT score.

I feel like I'm still learning so much the more that I prepare, and I think having more time would be helpful and lead to a better score.

I'm done DAT destroyer, done crack pat, about halfway done datbootcamp and halfway done datgenius. I've read all of Barron's AP Bio, gone through all my gen chem and orgo notes and feel pretty ready for the sciences. I'm just finding PAT is where I'm having the most improvement the more time I spend practicing with bootcmap and genius and I know a couple of schools I want to apply to really weigh PAT heavily.

Now I'm worried about the balance - if delaying leads to a better score, would that balance submitting my app later? Or is it better to just write the DAT and submit a bit earlier? I'm leaning towards delaying, but would really appreciate some help.

I'm sorry as I know this question has been asked a million times, but I'm neurotic and would love some insightful personalized advice from my fellow keeners. I know about rolling admissions, and I wish I had taken the DAT last year...but here I am. And my studying kept getting delayed.

If you feel ready with the sciences, then I think 1.5 weeks is more than enough time to improve your pat score. Most people don't feel truly ready with the sciences which is why it's so great that you feel prepared. I would practice PAT a ton everyday and keep reviewing your science notes, of course. Delaying probably wouldn't hurt you too much, as you're already going to have everything complete in the beginning of July with GPA verification and the test scores being uploaded, so being sent around a week or two later wouldn't really hurt you I don't think. If you can get everything in before the end of July, you're more than set. However, if you do feel ready with the sciences and it's just a matter of better preparing yourself for the PAT, I, personally wouldn't postpone taking the test. Just my two cents.
