Hey Guys,

I was wondering for those who have taken their DAT, on the real exam does the "REVIEW ALL" button appear after the completion of the section. Or does it appear ALL the time. Meaning, I'm able to skip to any question immediately after the exam has begun just like in CDP.

Also, how many laminated papers are given during the exam? Are they separate paper or are they all attached.

This is just last minute questions, before the BIG day. So I don't freak out when I see the real DAT.

Thanks

Review all appears at the end. The screen is annoying because when you have to scroll down, a "scroll down" will appear instead of "next" which I found peculiar, esp during organic chemistry. You get 2 laminated sheets and 2 markers.

And they are seperate, front is checkered like the ones Kaplan hands out and the back is solid. They are blue too.

Thanks for your feedback! Also, I was thinking of writing down the formulas for the Math section during the tutorial on one of my laminated sheets. But during my break do I have to hand over both laminated sheets or can I hand in only one, in exchange for a new one.

In addition, let's say I went out for my 10 min break, but used only 5 minutes, will the next section start immediately as I'm seated. or will the clock keep counting down? Just wondering b/c I could probably use that time strategize. Sorry for the "noob" questions.

I took my break and when I got back the clock counted down and then my test automatically started when time is up.
I handed both mine in but I didn't get the feeling that I couldn't keep one. You should call the prometric center you are using to find out for sure. I think each center might operate a little differently.
I had pink laminated graph sheets with fine sharpies that weren't that good. During tutorial I wrote down my gen chem formulas and holepunch grids. I had about 2 minutes left on my break and I wrote down some math formulas and paragraph numbers before my test began again.

Aside from that, consider wearing pants without pockets....not a big deal but they check all your pockets each time you go in. I wore pants with front and back pockets with buttons on back ones and it was a bit of pain.

Okay. So here is my experience with the 15 minute break.

After the PAT section the break starts counting down automatically. During this time you can go out, exchange your pink papers, eat, run a marathon...whatever - it is your time. However, it takes a good four minutes for them to sign you out and four minutes to sign you in (metal detector, fingerprinting, sign out-in page). It may take longer if the people signing you in and out are slow (as were mine). I was literally out for three minutes that I used to drink a fraction of a smoothie. When I signed back in and got back to my cubical I had 2.5 minutes left!

Hope this was helpful!

I received 1 laminated sheet (back and front). My only problem was that my cheap markers were not working at all. I had to ask the guy to give me replacements like 6 different times.

Same here! It was insane. I would give back the non working markers and I swear they put them back in the pile to hand out to others. It was terrible!

I got two laminated sheets at once and they were more than willing to just switch out one at a time. Mine were pink, though! And yes, the fine-tipped markers really stunk. REALLY stunk. I sat and played with them during the 15 minute tutorial at the beginning, though, and finally got them to work better. Maybe they were brand new...

Also, this isn't directly related to the question, but something interesting... I didn't test this for much longer than 30 seconds, but when you run out of time on a section, you get this little gray pop-up screen that says something along the lines of, "Your time has expired for this section." If you do NOT click continue/okay (whatever it said), I don't think it counts down on the next section or anything... You just stay there. It was intriguing. Anyone else notice this?

Yes.

Posting for clarification: these laminated sheets, are they your standard 8x11 notebook size? if one wished to replicate testing conditions could they acquire reasonable replicas at a retail store?

i'm assuming the markers are dry-erase...do they spot you an eraser?

Yes, they are your standard 8X11. Mine were pink with graphing paper on it. Also there was no eraser and it is hard to erase what you wrote on those laminated sheets. Though your sweaty palms could probably get the job done.

pssssh, my palms dont sweat. the tears brought upon by abject terror will be more than enough.

Wanna know something funny. When I took the DAT Nov. 2011, there was a pop-up stating that your break starts now click continue. Me and the proctor were confused because we didn't know if the test would have started if i clicked okay or if the timer would start after clicking ok.

So the proctor was chill and said "go take a break" I cam back after 10 minutes and then clicked next and there was a timer stating that my break had started. I was laughing in the middle of my exam since I got almost a good 30 minutes to relax before RC and QR raped me.

Did anyone else notice this?

NEW RULES: You CANNOT write on laminates during tutorial!!!( Webcam ON YOU) I took exam three times and had seen the changes.. Once you walk out the computers you HAVE to give in material, Once you are back you can get them again!! I wanted to write my formulas and stuff the third time i took exam but unfortunately is NOT LONGER ALLOW.. Before your exam you will receive an email explaining new rules. GOOD LUCK

Depends on the center. I called mine and they said i was allowed to utilize the tutorial for whatever I wanted whether it was just sitting or writing down formulas. Once the clock starts ticking, you are technically allowed to do anything you want.

Also, in regards to that topic about the time stopping until you click "yes", I think you can use this to your advantage
