Hello
I am starting a program this upcoming summer and am very excited to start school. I am lucky enough to have money saved up and will not need to be working park time while in school. I am very aware that the DPT process will be hard and that I’ll need to focus, but I am writing to see how you guys dealt with the school - life balance. I am starting DPT school after 10 years of being a freelance photographer and was on my feet constantly. During the past year of taking science prerequisite classes, I found myself sitting and moving less then I have in the past decade.
Only of my favorite hobbies is indoor rock climbing and I am at the point of my gym membership where I can renew for a year and save a lot of money, or pay monthly. Is it realistic to think that I’ll be able to have 2 -3 days a week to head to the gym for an 1.5 hours to get in “me time”? While taking my prerecs, I felt like I had my back up against the wall to get into a program and didn’t take care of myself physically in the way I would have liked to. I think that having this time will help me destress but more importantly, I want to make sure I thrive in the DPT school setting.
Im curious to hear how you guys dealt with similar hurdles..
