Is this a realistic plan for applying this cycle or should I wait until next cycle?

Submit application in mid June and take MCAT in mid June (so I can't submit it until mid to late July). Would it lower my chances to submit my MCAT so late during the application process?

You can submit your app to at least one school and get it verified while you're taking/ waiting for your mcat score. Once you see your score you can add more schools.

That way they'll get it immediately instead of you waiting a month or more for verification.

Do you think it is good idea to do this, or do you think my completed application will be too late in the application process?

its definitely not too late. I'd make sure that your application gets submitted before you get your scores as it is your verification wait time that will hold you back.

Normally, with these decisions I usually push for the gap year but here I'd say go for it! Also, what @BamaNicole said is spot on. Submit to one school to get it verified and then add more if you get the target MCAT.

1. Apply June 1st. The primary application doesn't need an MCAT score.

2. The earliest secondaries started coming in late June/early July. The majority of them came in around July 15th-ish which is right when you'll get yours back if you take mid-June.

3. Your app will still be pretty early if you stick to that plan. Some applicants even delay at the secondary stage.

The only con to this approach is that you'll be preparing for your MCAT while writing your personal fsstatement. I could see how that could get very stressful but it's still manageable considering it's summer. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I was just trying to say that if you looked at all the advice I give on SDN and in person, I usually push for gap years but in this case, even I wouldn't. Just trying to add context to strengthen the argument that you should go for it!

Oh ok, I see.
Thanks for the advice!

I'm also planning to sit for a late May to mid June MCAT. If I were to submit my AMCAS primary app to only one school in early June, I could then assume that the only secondary (and thus, complete application) I'd have by early to mid July is that one school, right?

If my MCAT score were my target score, and I subsequently add additional schools on my application, would this delay my receipt of secondaries and ultimately, having my application complete by the end of July?

Right and once you have your MCAT score, you'll be eligible to complete secondaries and it sounds like you'll have enough time to turn them around so long...most ppl turn them in earliest in July...you're on the early end anyhow.
