I took the re-took the DAT today and scored a lot worse on QR section. My scores went from a 17 to a 14. =( My chem sections improved but PAT stayed the same at 17. My AA went from a 20 to 19.

I should have just stayed with my first scores but now I'm stuck with an even worst score. How does this work? Which scores do the schools take when it comes to retakes? Is my only choice to retake again?

Thanks everyone.

I was also under the impression that most schools take the most recent DAT scores. Your best bet is to call the schools you plan on applying to and ask them about it.

I know some schools look at the most recent scores; whereas, others look for improvements. In other words, they consider both scores and they compare them to one another.

yeah, a lot of schools have different systems for how they handle these things. some take your most recent scores, others pick out what was highest out of either test, and i've heard some average them?

actually, i just looked in my adea book. a lot of schools take the highest scores, but for example, UCSF states that only the most recent scores are considered. same for UoP and UDM. if you have an adea book look at schools' dat entering class info - you'll find it there.

So the Adea book actually says which scores they take for each school? That would be really helpful. I was planning on calling all of them at this point. =(

Even if they only look at the highest scores, if they see lower ones more recently, how could they really ignore them?

😕
