I'm just looking for some feedback from anyone who is more familiar with the latest trends in acceptance since I feel pretty lost at this point...Here's the situation:

-I applied roughly 1 month ago
-My GPAs just came out (Cum 3.53/Sci 3.21)
-I have yet to take the DAT, but my scores with Kaplan have not exceeded 18AA, but my PAT is consistantly around 23
-My dad is a dentist and i have tons of experience

My question: What are my odds and where are my best chances with these stats?

I realize that everyone on this forum wants to talk about themselves and see how they stack up. I know i'm not the strongest applicant in the bunch, but I'm more interested in calming my nerves or just dealing with the cold truth.

Please let me know what you think!!

Your GPA is consider competitive. and plus your Kaplan AA is 18...I have friends who has 16AA, 17AA on Kaplan and get 20AA on the real DAT. don't feel so down..keep your head up and study hard....you never know what's gonna come...

I'll be honest with you, Last year I had a 3.47 Total GPA, and 3.3:sci GPA, and my DAT score was AA:20, TS:20, PAT:20. I had over 100 hours dental experience and research and volunteering, and my Mom and Dad are physicians. I DID Not Get IN. because I interviewd late, I actually applied in June but I schedualed my Interviews in February, (cause I was stupide), and so I didn't get in, even the interviewers said because the interviews are late we have a lesser chance, it's sort of a first come first serve with many schools. so if your interviews come late because you applied Late your chances are much lower, even if you score a 20 or above on the DAT. But still hope for the best, you'll never know.

Take a deep breath. Let's break down your situation:

GPA - competive. This is good because it's one of the hardest things to improve (just ask me 🙄 )

DAT - I honestly don't think there is one practice test out there that is a good measure of the real thing. But considering your GPA and practice tests, I'd venture to say you have a pretty good shot if you study hard. Use every resource you can and study like a madman.

Timing of App - you're probably a little late for this cycle. Moreso because some schools might put your app on hold while they wait for your Dat scores. But who knows? You might get some love from your state school.

If worse comes to worse you can reapply. No bigggie in the grand scheme of things. If after applying 2+ times, you're still being rejected THEN you worry. 👍

Since your stats are incomplete (Kaplan stats are meaningless for application purposes), why not take the DAT and then ask the question on your chances.

I agree 100% with doc toothache. The OP just needs to take the real DAT and move on with life and the application cycle. Because of the time of year, the OP has no choice but to take the test soon.

At the end of the day, what-if scenarios of "what are my chances" are quite meaningless without your complete numbers. Take the test and go from there....

have you tried getting laid? Its a great stress reliever. trust me I know😀
