how do you convert L to kg?

really stupid question i know. i read a tutorial online and now im confused. i know you need mass and density.

D = m/v
solve for V

but V is in L --> how do you convert to kg?

L is a measure of volume. kg is a measure of mass. When you describe the density of a solution, you are describing the mass of 1 L of that solution. To find the volume of a solution of given density and mass, you need to isolate V. Thus V = m/D

this may be irrelevant, but in case it helps,

when you are using water (which is ususally the case)

1L=1kg

Whenever you do dimensional analysis, remember that if something is both in numerator and in denominator, it cancels out. For example, kg * (1/kg) = 1. In your case, you have L in the numerator, and you want to end up with only kg in the numerator. You want to get rid of the L by putting an L in the denominator, and "make" kg by putting it in the numerator. Multiplying L by kg/L accomplishes this. Then you note that kg/L is just a unit of density.
