Hello all! I did not match despite receiving 4 TX MD ii. Please help me see what I can improve on.
cGPA: 3.92
sGPA: 3.9
MCAT: 500 --> 514(130/125/131/128)
ORM
Applied to all TX MD schools except for TCU. In hindsight should've applied to all TX schools MD and DO and some OOS.
Graduated already from a mid sized state school.
Community non clinical: 200 hrs (150 club tutoring leader for low income children) 50 hours food bank.
Clinical Volunteering: 300 hrs (250 + 50 EMT trainee)
Research: 500 hrs no pubs
Clinical Employment: 0 hours
How should I improve my app for next cycle?
I got put on WL for some of the schools. When does movement usually begin?

My instinct says bad interviews and little mission fit. Not enough service orientation; mostly you have tutoring and minimal food distribution. Everyone has tutoring so it doesn't help you stand out and ready to demote you on the priority list for offers.

For what it's worth, 4 interviews is a great result. Waitlist movement can happen at any time, though we'll see how things line up with AMCAS CYMS deadlines as some who got accepted decide to go to an AMCAS program.

Sorry to hear about not matching. You should get some clinical employment/diversity of clinical experiences and continue to volunteer at the food bank. Your hours for both were on the lower end. You could still apply to Roseman right now; they just opened.

If you were invited to 4 interviews and did not receive any acceptances, that tells me you did a good job on your apps, but did not do so well in your interviews. If you are not admitted from the WL, next time around:

1. Apply to more programs including OOS schools that are friendly to OOS students and that are appropriate for you given your stats and their class profile and mission.
2. I'd like to see more non-tutoring hours.
3. Increase your clinical experience either in a paid or volunteer capacity.
4. Some schools value shadowing and others don't. If you are applying to at least a few in the former category, shadow a few doctors in different fields, including at least one in primary care.
5. Get interview prep when invited to interview.
