Hi everyone! I've been putting together my list for reapplying to schools for the 2020-2021 cycle, but could use some help. I originally had 63 schools after using MSAR/SDN, but narrowed it down to the following:
Albany
California University
Rosalind Franklin
Creighton
Drexel
Quinnipiac
Geisinger
GWU
Georgetown
Seton Hall
University of Buffalo
USC
Loyola
NYMC
Northwestern
Beaumont
Rush
Rutgers -RJW
TCU/UNTHSC
Tufts
Tulane
UCD
UCI
UCSD
University of Colorado
University of Minnesota
Rochester
Vanderbilt
VCU
Wake Forest
Western Michigan
I was also going to add these DO schools: AT Still (in AZ and MO), Western (20 minutes from where I live). Was going to add both Touro schools as well, but I can’t because I can’t meet the LOR reqs.
Here are the schools that were on my list but removed for various reasons (mostly because I only have 1 (science faculty) LOR or my MCAT is expired at those schools):
Albert Einstein, Boston, Case Western, Florida Atlantic, Rowan, Hofstra, Eastern Virginia, Dartmouth, Icahn, Kaiser, Temple, MC Wisconsin, NYU, Nova Southeastern, Oregon, University of Vermont, Rutgers NJ, St. Louis, Sidney Kimmel, SUNY Downstate/Upstate, UCLA, UCSF, University of Chicago, University of Illinois, University of Miami, USF Morsani, Virginia Tech Carilion, Washington U (St. Louis), Wayne State
The 3 things that I’ve been screening for are:
For context: CA resident, ORM, graduated in 2016 from a UC. 3.69 cGPA / 3.72 sGPA, MCAT 519 (130/129/130/130).
Research/employment: 2000+ years as a research/production assistant
Clinical volunteering: 450 hours + additional 50 hours during 2019-20 cycle as a clinical volunteer
Nonclinical volunteering: 70 hours + additional 55 hours during 2019-20 cycle at a food pantry
Employment: 4000 hours + additional 1000 hours during 2019-2020 cycle as an ER scribe/trainer
Leadership: 300 hours in leadership at clinical internship, + additional ~800 hours in executive leadership in same internship during the 2019-20 cycle
Extracurriculars: 750 hours as founder/board member of an undergrad a cappella group
LORs: 1 from my former supervisor at a biotech company, 1 from a physician that I have a good working relationship with, 1 from my pharm professor from undergrad, + 1 new LOR (for the 2020-2021 cycle) from the program manager of my clinical internship
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The 3 things that I’ve been screening for are:
- specifics for LORs (I can do max 4, and can’t do more than 1 (science) faculty
- whether my MCAT is considered expired at those schools (I took mine back in May 2018)
- whether the school has expiration dates for prerequisite coursework (again, I graduated in 2016 so it’s been a while. I would consider retaking classes if it weren’t for the fact that my MCAT score will expire after this cycle, and I don’t think I have another 519 in me…)
