Hey guys sorry if this has been beaten to death but I searched and counldn't find an exact answer.

I saw one thread where a guy said this:

"Your AMCAS will show whether you've applied to a school before, and since the same AMCAS is sent everywhere, the information may be available to them. e.g., you applied to State School A for 2006, and again for 2007, so it will show up on the form sent to Private School B that you applied to both in 2007, but are a reapplicant to State School A.

However, there are a number of 'masks' used by the different ADCOMs to filter the applications and speed up processing time, so that info may not be seen. In addition, why do you care? The majority of schools look favorably (in my experience) on re-apps (it's dedication). Just talk to the different schools you're interested in and see how they treat re-apps."

and so my question is, if (using his example) you applied to school A one year, then applied to school B the next year without applying to state school A, would they be able to tell that you had applied at all before?

Also, would school B care at all that I applied to school A? It would still be their first time looking at my application...?

Honestly, I can't find anywhere on the AMCAS that states you are a reapplicant. For medical schools you have never applied to before, I don't know how they know you are a reapplicant -- unless they ask how you have improved your application or if you have applied to medical schools before (which some do -- and I don't think they would do that if they had the information on AMCAS).

The AMCAS lists of schools you applied to is only on your application. Medical schools aren't suppose to know what other schools you have applied to. They also shouldn't know where are a second time applicant too. So I think that poster is wrong and you are over thinking it.
