This is probably my favorite thread to read! As a reapplicant I like to hear that you guys finally got in after all your hard work and perseverance! I know you all appreciate your acceptance a lot having been through the process at least one time before. Congrats all I hope you all find success.

For you reapps that got accepted (congrats!), what did you improve from your previous app that got you in this time? What do you think held you back in previous cycles....

The two things that were super easy, but I just didn't realize the importance of the first two years were applying early and applying to enough / the right schools. This year I really researched what schools were looking for before I chose 15 schools to apply to. Also, I got my application, all my LORs and transcripts in on the first mailing, which helped me get pre-Dec. 1st interviews.

I also tried to improved my application by taking more classes (and acing them), continuing to get dental experience (dental assisting, helping in a dental lab) and volunteering a lot.

ditto to everything that the last poster said!! I also debated retaking the DAT, but in the end I did not. I felt that my scores were good enough and I did not want to put myself through that again. aa19 ts19 pat22 rc22 bio20 chm19 ochem18 qr17. I still got in to two schools.

I just wanted to tip my hat to all of you that spent 2, 3 or even 4 cycles applying to dental school before finally getting accepted. You should be very proud of your efforts and upon graduation, it will be all the sweeter!

Congratulations!! 👍

I did a Master's degree.

This is from my other thread. Never give up!!!

-----------

hey all,
this post is meant to serve as an inspiration.

A few years ago, I graduated from undergrad (won't say where) with a gpa of 3.2/2.6. I searched everywhere for a Master's program that would take me. NO ONE.

I finally found a Master's program that told me I needed some more post-bac work before they would take me. So I did 3 semesters of post bac work:
3.9/3.7

I took the DAT, and began working as a dental assistant.
DAT: AA:23 TS:23 PAT:20 Bio:23 GC:23 OC:23 RC:23 QR:22

I was then provisionally accepted to the Master's program. At this time I was also denied from dental school. I began my master's program. In the middle of the master's program I find that I am denied from dental school again.

I am now finished with the master's program.
3.7/3.7
I am taking some extra graduate classes, and today I found out I am accepted to my first choice dental school.

So yeah, it took me 3-4 years after undergrad to get where I am, however I am here.

DO NOT GIVE UP. with hard work, and the support of loving family and friends, you'll make it!!
