I got in to DS this year (OHSU) but decided against attending due to their obnoxious tuition / COL (500k debt after 4 years). I only applied there in hopes of WICHE funding which would drop the price by 200k. Not to mention, a few students mentioned the school is in a downward spiral such as, probationary status due to high fail rates on NBDE 1 & 2, professors not caring about the students, many of the instructors are leaving (or have already left) just to name a few. Do you guys think it wise to mention all the issues with the school if I get interviews this application cycle?

Do my DAT scores automatically attach themselves to my application or do I have to send them in again?

Stats are: 3.7 GPA 3.58 sGPA 3.8 BCP GPA
19 AA 19 TS 21 PAT 18 QR 22 RC 17 Bio 19 GC 20 OC
100 hrs of shadowing
350 hrs of health related volunteering
over 1000 hrs of non health related volunteering

Application isn't complete. It was a last minute choice to not attend OHSU, I'll probably be complete sometime this month.

School List:
ASDOH (Dream school)
MWU-AZ
Western
LECOM
NSU
Indiana
Louisville
UNLV
Buffalo
VCU

Should I add or remove schools?

I really appreciate any help or advice you guys have for me!

I am assuming that OHSU is the only acceptance. Based on that and depending on how accurate your info is, I would personally go to OHSU. But I think youll be fine if you apply again. Definitely cheaper than spending 100k on your first year.

Or you can apply for the 3 year HPSP. Then moneys not an issue.

If you're worried about cost I'd shy away from the privates. I go to lecom, estimated debt will be around 300K once I'm done. I'd imagine NOVA being around the same but i think cost of living is a bit more over there in ft lauderdale

I thought OHSU was a good school..

I already declined their offer so its a no-go at this point and yes, only acceptance last year. I forgot to mention a part of why I declined their offer was so that I could apply for the 4 year HPSP instead of the 3 year which is much more competitive. I didn't feel I was likely to get it and didn't want to be SOL with 500k debt that I would be paying for half my life.

In that case, good call on your part. But since youre applying again, I would apply to schools where you feel like you havea good chance of getting in, so you would have more choices this round. With the HPSP, money shouldnt be too much of an issue.

Care to shoot me any suggestions?

I only applied to 10 schools, so I dont know much about other schools. But off the top of my head UConn and MWU-IL

I don't recall exactly but isn't UConn completely out of my reach due to my low DAT score?

You could have gotten out of dental school a year earlier and had atleast a 100k paycheck under your belt. The costs would have been almost the same after you take that into account. Anyways, I'm anxious to hear if you get any interviews. I'm also WICHE, 20 DAT, 3.8 GPA but I'm applying as a junior so I won't have a degree. We have almost the exact same schools.

Youre applying as a rising junior? It's gonna be difficult getting an acceptance as most schools prefer a BS on matriculation. But you might find some schools out there who dont care.

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion but the costs are no where near the same and that isn't even considering the financial benefits of HPSP either.

About to e-submit finally got my transcripts in... any last minute opinions / adjustments? Going to be adding MWU-IL. Should I look into MOSDOH?

Isn't ASDOH, your top choice, pretty close in cost to OHSU?

I feel the opportunity cost of delaying a year would've balanced out the higher tuition costs at OHSU but that was your decision to make, obviously.

Yes, it's probably good to add MOSDOH since it's related to ASDOH, which you are keen on.

AZ resident. Would save the entirety of living expenses. Any other opinions?
