Hi there

I'm reapplying for 2008. My overall gpa was a 3.6 and my science gpa was a 3.1. My stats were 17/17/17. I took the exam last october and my adsaas application was submitted end of august. I wasnt a late applicant, but not an early one at that either. I also have a lott of dental experience. Basically I know where I went wrong. I will be retaking the DAT this summer and plan on submitting my application may 15th. So this is where my concerns come in:
1. Do I need to write a new personal statement?
2. Do I need new recommendation letters?

I really appreciate everyones help and hope that someone will want me for 2008 🙁

I was reapplicant and I didn't write a new personal statement and I used the same letters of recommendation. However, my application last year was late. I got accepted this year, all that changed was I subimtted my application early.

1. Do I need to write a new personal statement? I wrote a new one and met with success. It seems like schools want to see how you've gotten even better as an applicant since last year. If you are applying to the same schools then I would definitely at least re-edit for style. My thought was that if it wasn't good enough to get me in the first time that I would take a fresh approach.

2. Do I need new recommendation letters? At a minimum, you need to resubmit your letters to AADSAS or to the school directly, for most schools. There are a few schools that will use your LORs from the previous application. If you choose to use these, you will be assuming that the school received all of the right letters and that they didn't spill hot chocolate on them or highlight/underline something on them while processing. I had mine re-written and resubmitted. However, there are some schools that will keep LORs from the previous cycle. The schools where I reapplied that maintained the old LORs in file used the new LORs and indicated this to me. Two LORs were from the same individuals, but for each cycle a fresh one was mailed in to AADSAS.

So I reapplied and I rewrote my personal statement, because I thought I could do better. I also got 1 new LOR because I got a c in a class and then i took another to replace it, got an a and had that teacher write the LOR, to better show the turn around. I would recommend getting all of your stuff in on the first day, there really isn't any reason you shouldn't because this is your second time around. your chances to get in will increase exponentially, because you'll get looked at first. You should rock the admissions as long as you rock the DAT, GOOD LUCK!!!

1. I would recommned revising your personal statement to include some things that you have been doing this past year, such as extra curriculars etc...

2. Definitly reuse the same letters of rec. and/or possibly get some more from new professors or employers that you have had.
