Hey guys,
As a new reapplicants what are you doing different this year?
I know I have been on the waiting list in couple of schools myself last year. I have retaken the DAT and up it a couple of points. I have new letter of recommendation. However what scares me is that I am a sub 3.0 applicant. It seems as if the stats are going up and up only after a year. I am pretty nervous now that I am competing with more competitive pool of applicants. Please share with me if you don't mind what a reapplicant should do to improve their chances. Or more specifically what are you doing different this time around? I know it's pretty late to apply to postbacc programs so I don't know what else I can do to up my chances except to retake my DAT.
My DAT scores: 19/20/17, AA/Sci/PAT (debating whether I should retake it since it's still early in the cycle) my GPA >2.8. Any advice or comments.

Hhhmmmm..interesting situation. There's a few things to consider. On the one hand I understand your lack of focus after working full time (believe me!) while on the other I agree that you need to increase those DAT scores in order to increase the likelyhood of receiving an acceptance letter. How confident are you that if you take the DAT your scores will increase? - and please don't say 'good.' Let's rank your confidence on a scale of 1-10, 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest. What I am concerned about is that although your second score was met with an improvement 👍 there is always that chance that it could go down on the third try. Then again, a third time is a charm. If you are confident (6-10) that you can manage some study time and believe that your scores will improve, I urge you to go for it. However, if you feel that your grasp of the material has waned since last time and, combined with your work situation, feel (1-5) unable to do an effective job at brushing up on some things and that your score might actually take turn for the worse, then perhaps you should reconsider. Besides your stats, do you have any volunteer/extracurricular activities on your resume? Have you already applied? - definitely put your application in the pool to see if you get any nibbles or bite. It's a gamble, that's for sure, but one that might pay-off for you if you are ready.

some people go into a post-bac program to up their GPA. If you get a semester or years worth of A's in science courses and do some research or something like that, it shows a certain amount of re-focusing and maturing and that you can hack d-school.

now, how easy is that? while taking upper division science classes and getting straight A's across for a year. It doesn?t sound too easy or even possible. Do you know any postbac program still accepting students for 2004? We have at least a year left till 2005 academic year starts.

You can always apply as an extension student and take some classes, doesn't have to be through a post bac program if you are going to take classes for about 2 semesters...
