I am reapplying for psych during the next cycle. I want to improve my application. Other than working with a doctor and doing research, will getting a CASAC cert help?

you may already know this, but u did not mention it. So, one simple thing that you can do is to have your application sent out the moment Eras accepts it.

Take me for example: I was a bit late. I sent my thing in nearer to November. I had only two interview offers. Other people who had sent their things in on the midnight of ERAS acceptance had interview offers within a couple of days.

So, since you have plenty of time to prep, part of that effort ought to go towards having all your letters and personal statements lined up. Even if all the letters and dean's letters are not released until november, you should still get the application sent the very second that it is possible to do so. Interviews are offered without having the deans letters released. Residencies are run by people and they want to fill their interview spots sooner rather than later. So, if a bunch of qalified candidates come in on the midnight of ERAS open, then they will use those applicants to fill the interview spots.

Luckily, I was not entirely tied to the match because I was eligible for R-2 spots. And I was able to match into an R-2 spot outside of the match.

cheers.
