1 critical question: Should I apply now and then update my DAT score or should I just retake the DAT then apply?

I plan on retaking the DAT late July or early August. I got 17-18 across the board last year, BTW.

However, I just feel like August is kinda late and Dental schools won't get it til September as AADSAS likes to take it's precious time processing things even though they rip you out the ass with fees.

even if you send it now, wouldnt you want the schools to see you new scores? what you can do is send out the app and then call the schools tell them about your projected DAT date. The schools will put your application on hold until you get your new scores.

Definitely apply now to the schools you care most about and notify the schools of your testing date.

You kinda have to pay attention to the schools pre-reqs. Some will screen out applicants that don't have a minimum DAT score. Others won't. If you want to apply now then choose the schools that don't have these DAT requirements.

August is a little late but fine. I had all my stuff by June but was shafted by my committee letter which didn't arrive until August. I missed out on some good interview opportunities (I think) because of this but I still managed 3 interviews and 2 acceptances. You probably should have done your retake earlier but it's not the end of the world.

I'm only applying to schools I know they will look at my application. I am using predents.com as a tool. 😉
