Anyone know if you can reuse your app from last year (i.e. not reenter course codes, address etc.) and simply add any additional info like your most recent grades/experience. Also I really liked my essay last time around, would it look bad and or lazy to reuse it or some similar version of it.
Thanks

Pretty sure you have to re-enter everything.
However, I am also curious about the essay question. I don't understand why some people feel the need to redo their entire essay. Personally, I know the reason I didn't make it this year was because I applied way too late and was late sending in my application money and DAT scores. I don't plan on rewriting my essay. All I will do is add 2 more grades, 1 more shadowing experience and the schools that I applied to last year.

From experience...

1) You have to re-enter all the information on AADSAS forms (just print out all of the old application info and fill it in plus new info). When I did this it took 1/2 to 3/4 less time to fill out because I already had everything done I just had to re-enter it.

2) You have to send LORs to ADEA even if they are written by the same people and are the exact same LOR.

3) I tweaked my essay, but kept most of it the same. Honestly, I dont think this matters much as long as it is well written. However, I would go ahead and add new classes, work experiences, volunteer experiences, etc.

Good luck....pbure looking at your stats I am pretty positive with an early sumbitted application you will get in at most schools you apply.

Do you think anyone cares if you use the same essay? And who is going to take the time to monitor something like that, even if they did care? I can't believe they would waste their time on something like that when they have to process thousands of apps.

Do like your name says and chill out...read my post again and you will see I basically wrote what you just did. Also, if this comment is directed to the OP, I think you (relaxgirl) are missing the boat...while the personal statement isnt a huge factor...dental schools want to make sure you know how to put coherent thoughts into 1000 words or less.

Wow, I had no idea that we get upset on here for having multiple answers to the same question! I guess your response was so perfect I shouldn't have responded myself 😱 My bad. 🙄

I also never said the essay wasn't a big deal. I just doubt they have an employee who goes through matching each persons application to the previous years to make sure there is no duplicates. Sorry you took offense.

The ADEA doesnt really "sort" through anything...they just match up your information and put it into a file, then send the information that you sent to the schools you requested. A lot of the privates who get 2000-3000 apps probably dont remember if you have applied more than 1x (unless you are waitlisted from year before,etc.). However, a smaller school will definitely notice if you dont at least add some new information....but that may or may not be a bad thing. My suggestion: add some new stuff to your old letter...its not that big of a deal to do. Now waiting and waiting and waiting...thats another story. BTW, my answer wasnt "perfect" I just thought you were calling me out for saying to tweak the essay. Last year many suggested that I do this (I doubt it made or broke my chances of getting in, but nevertheless was a good idea). Many people repeat answers and repeat threads for that matter here on SDN. Lastly, to reiterate what I said in the first sentence...the ADEA is just a place where you send information...they organize it and pass it on...they dont really look at anything besides your grades to see if they match up with what you entered on the AADSAS application form. And lastly, they throw away all files from the previous year so they have no clue if you are a reapplicant unless you have applied 7 x in a row.

I haven't seen this question yet, but it is possible it has been asked:

If you reapply through AADSAS, can you, or should you use the same LOR's IF they are attached to 2005 paperwork. Obviously I can try to get 2006 paperwork attached to the LOR, but it might be difficult to contact one of my instructors. Has anyone ACTUALLY done this, and if so, was anything mentioned, or said about it. Please let me know as this will most likely be my circumstance. Thanks. If you haven't done this, or you don't know anyone specifically that has done this, please refrain from responding. I'm looking for something solid, just not a lot of guesses.
