hey everyone,

i'll be reapplying this year for pharmacy school, i applied for fall 2009 admission but didn't get in. i was wondering if anyone knew which california schools keep the applications for denied applicants. i know that ucsf keeps all the previous information but i'm unsure about other schools. the reason i'm asking is for LORs. i was thinking about asking the same pharmacist to write me another LOR, i'm not sure if this is a good idea or not. i know other pharmacists, just not as well.

also, if anyone has just some general advice for re-applicants, please share!! thanks

PharmCAS retains your LORs. So you could submit it again or not. Whether it is a good idea or not to use one from the same person depends on whether that LOR contained anything negative or vague about you and if you have better options.

As far as reapplying, be sure that you will have a substantial addition to your qualifications especially addressing your shortcomings (you can ask the admissions office) and improve your essay responses (presentation and content).

No they don't...My LOR didn't stay...Am I missing something here?

Oops. You're right.

Letters of recommendation, personal statements/narratives, payments, and transcripts containing updated coursework will NOT be carried over and must be resubmitted.

I thought that I had read it somewhere that it would be retained...

I dont see how having the same LOR would be a problem. Just make sure that you improve on your Personal Statement, that's what I did the 2nd time around.

It's a problem if the LOR doesn't have anything favorable to say about you. :x Best thing to do is to call the school up, see why you were not accepted (perhaps they will reference the LOR), and ask for ways to improve.

Ok, ok...I will make things clear. I called yesterday, up to 6 schools in California (beside ucsf, ucsd) and even PharmCAS....PharmCAS will not retain any LOR but the school itself WILL. For students that are reapplying, most California school and other states require only ONE LOR (for reapplying applicant only). That one LOR must be different from the previous LOR recommender. I hope this clear things out about LOR. 🙂

thanks john87, i was planning on calling the schools too. i've decided just to go with all new LOR from different people.
