What does this mean? Please please please baby Jesus be an acceptance. I haven't heard from Pitt in about 2 months could it be? I mean, would they have rejected me or gave me a waitlist but put me in the financial aid system? :scared::scared::scared::scared:

Odd. Many moons ago I got a finaid letter from UIUC 2 weeks before I got an acceptance to their EE grad program. Hopefully you have similar good news from Pitt. I suppose you could call them and ask. 🙂

of course I totally did and they said it will be in the mail. I ever so slightly tried to pull it out of them but I am sure they weren't going to let me have it over the phone. Now, the thing is this, lol, I mean how freaking mean would it be to bring my hopes up like that?

As well, I mean, doesn't it take effort to put me in the pool of accepted people rather than rejected and waitlisted people?

nope, i got that email too and was waitlisted a while back. i think they're just sending it out to all applicants. sorry 🙁

Is it so hard to call?

LOL, wow, ok if that is the case then Pitt is gonna get a call from me after this whole process and get a complaint. I find it rude to get corespondance after a freaking 2+ month period and to only be "messed" with by the financial aid office?

I mean this is super weird. It is from the office of financial aid. why would this go out to everyone? especially rejected people?

The financial aid offices don't know who's going to be accepted, and if they wait until they do, it makes the process very difficult for you and them. It is easier to have everyone apply (it's the same FAFSA for every school anyway) now than to wait until the admissions committees make their decisions.

If you get waitlisted, this also means that an acceptance can be accompanied with a timely financial aid offer, so you don't have to deal with that stuff over the summer at the last minute.

Ditto. I think it's highly recommended you send your FAFSA to schools you haven't even been accepted to yet because you want the financial aid office to get working on a package ASAP.

Often times the admissions office and the financial aid office are completely separate. Some schools do this in order to make sure that decisions are independent of financial need.

Also, I just said this in the Pitt thread, but I was waitlisted a while ago and received the same email.

That stinks getting letters about something else while you are waiting for the acceptance. This brings back memories of when I applied. I got a nice big envelope in the mail from a school and got all excited just to find out it was info about the Masters program that school had.😡

I think schools should write on any letters or email subjects.."Nothing to do with application." so you dont have an MI with every new piece of mail.👍
