i was convicted of a reckless driving for speeding (misdemeanor) back in college (7 years ago), had my license suspended for a little while, etc. but havent had any problems since then. i reported it to med school with no problems, and now im wondering what to do as far as residency goes... unfortunately, in my state, a reckless driving stays on your record for 11 years :/

i know on ERAS they only ask about felonies, but they also have a question about anything in your past that would potentially limit your ability to be licensed... is this something i need to address there or do i just address it if comes up during interviews?

thanks in advance for anyones advice!!

I asked my mom about this (she is an attorney) and it should be fine. It is the same in my state and not all of us were great drivers at 18, haha.

I would not imagine it not be a prob--especially if it was not a DUI. I wonder how many people apply and say yes to the felony question. And if the answer is yes, how many residencies even consider the applicant.

It's not on ERAS but they will probably ask you about it after you get accepted and have to sign forms for the residency program. They will also probably ask about it when you apply for a medical license.
