I had a question about the recommendation letter requirement for AADSAS. I am going to send a Committee letter, and the requirement of the AADSAS says to provide 1 Committee Letter/Report + 1 Optional Letter.

Can this optional letter be a letter from a dentist?

Or will it be better, if I ask one of the professors for this optional recommendation letter? and, if needed, send a letter from a dentist to other schools directly?

Thanks!

That is what I did (Dentist). I would check with each of the schools that you are applying to and make sure that is what they want.

One more question, our school's committee letter is simply a letter from committee. So there is no additional individual letters attached to it. I am little worried that this might not fulfill the requirement of AADSAS. Does anyone know about this?

I think that is what the Committee letters are. Can you tell me more of what you were expecting? Have you seen it? I was not allowed to see any of mine.

Some committee letters are compilations of multiple letters of recommendation. You would submit three or four letters from your professors to the committee at your school. Your committee reads these letters, interviews you, ranks you, and writes a comprehensive letter of recommendation which quotes what professors say about you to back up their points. I would assume that the individual letters from your professors are included in a committee packet that is sent to AADSAS.

Anyone think that my idea of what a committee is, is incorrect? I thought that's what they did.

I am not sure. According to what professors have told me and how the Professional Committee Recommendation Form looked like, it does not sound like a compilations of multiple LORs.

They said the PRC meets during May/June, but there is no interviews they mentioned.

Anyway, the important question is if this PRC letter will fulfill the requirement for AADSAS. This committee is for medical and dental school applicants so I assume that this should take care...

Of course, I'm not allowed to see it. I am in process of filling out the Professional Recommendation Commitee Form. By the way, so what you did was sending 1 Committee letter + 1 letter from a dentist to AADSAS?
