Recommendation letter question

I will be taking an A&P class in the fall and was wondering how I should go about asking the professor for a recommendation letter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I went to office hours and said "I'm applying to physical therapy programs this fall and I was hoping you would write me a letter of recommendation".

Do well in the course, participate in class, don't show up hung over in your PJ's, go to office hours a few times and get to know the prof.
