Hey!
Just to make sure I do it the right way! How did you guys send the letters of recommendation? Did you send each one separately to the schools or did you just send one to AADSA? Does the professor have to send it?
Also, is it ok if I have 2 letters from Biology professors, and 1 in Anatomy or should I have also 1 non-science letter?

You will be best served by running a search. But here goes.

Gathered my letters in the spring from a few dentists and science profs.

Held them til may 15th, printed off matching form and sent them all straight to aadsas by certified overnight mail.

Good Luck, pray that they don't get lost.

Two very important things:

1) Assuming you are applying for the 2008 cycle, wait until the 2007 cycle is done and the 2008 cycle application is available before you send your letters to AADSAS. I made the mistake of sending my letters in early, and AADSAS disposed of them rather than carrying them over to the next cycle. I then had to have all my evaluators re-send the letters.

2) You need to check with the schools you are interested in to see who they want the letters from. Schools are very specific about who they want letters from, as I am just finding out in the middle of this application cycle (rejected from one place, other schools requesting new letters!). For example, one school I applied to wanted two letters, one from a biology professor, one from a chemistry professor. Another school wanted letters from two science professors, one from a dentist, and one from a non-science or dental related person (a boss for example). The point is that schools are picky about this and you need to make sure you research what the schools you are applying to want.

Thanks for the information! That's right, I'm gonna have my recommendation letters for the 2008 cycle. Does anyone know when the AADSA will accept applications for the next cycle?

They usually open it in mid may. On a monday. I input all of my info that night at midnight and stayed up inputting my transcripts until dawn.

I am glad that is over.🙂

My school had a "Career Center," and they took care of mailing out whatever LOR's you wanted to send. You would print out a form for the letter writer to file (questions about grades, personality, etc), they would attach a recommendation letter, and mail it back to the career center in an enveloped you provided. Best part is that the Career Center holds up to 10 letters for as long as you want, so if a letter is lost, it is still on file.

It was very easy, maybe your school has something of the like.

Sounds smart 😀! Gonna check that with our career services center! So what if a school wants you to send the LoR directly to them and not through ADSAA! Also, how many LoR's did you get in total, because each school has different requirements.

is Biochem counted as chem?

I had my letters sent to me as well as AADSAS. I do not trust AADSAS at all so if something goes wrong, which it will, you can resend them yourself.

You shouldn't trust AADSAS at all. I applied last year and they didn't even send my LOR's to the schools. They kept telling me they did and that the schools just hadn't processed them yet. After two months of their BS I just told them to "resend" them. All my schools had them within two weeks of that. AADSAS is ridiculous. Why it takes them so long to do anything is beyond comprehension. Someone should start another application service, if thats possible.

you can have your letters sent to you? doesn't that defeat the purpose of not being able to read them?

we also have a LOR service at our career center, but the prof's have to sign a confidentiality form saying you wont read the letters.

ALSO, would it be wise to perhaps send a copy to aadsas and a copy directly to the schools just in case aadsas loses them or something? or would getting two copies of your LORs annoy the schools?
