I want to get a pair of flip up loupes when I get out of school soon -- ttl loupes make me tilt my head so far forward (I maxed out on the declination angle) and it hurts my neck. Does anyone use flip ups and which ones would you recommend?
I have the surgitel 5.5x flip ups. I love them! Noticeable difference in declination angle from my DFV 3.5x ttl loupes. I use both because I see a lot of kids and they move around a lot which can be more difficult to track in the high magnification but I love the 5.5s (which I'm currently using full time because my DFVs are in for repair). What's your current magnification? If I were to start from scratch as this point I would maybe go with surgitel flip-ups in 4.5x and 6.5x
Zeiss loupes have probably the best optical quality and their products are flip up.
It's also worth trying flip-up or TTL Q-Optics. To my knowledge they have the best options for ergonomics because they have frames that are larger and allow for low positioning of TTL magnification- just let your rep know your priorities. However, there are limitations in setting magnification too low because you do not want to exhaust your eyes.
