Simply put, does taking the "recommended courses" for dental school (e.g cell biology, histology, immunology, etc.) have any bearing on your chances of admission? Will schools look more favorably on you as a candidate if you have taken these classes? Or are these recommended solely for the benefit to your base of knowledge for dental school should you be accepted?

It's logical that they give more consideration to those who have completed courses like Microbio, Genetics, etc. A DS admission counselor told to me that all these classes are like being being part of dental school already, take as many as you can and you will have a strong foundation for DS.
