Does any recommend any ECs that I can do during my freshman year? I know I've only been in college for a month, but I haven't done anything except for schoolwork and clubbin on the weekends. I have several things in place AFTER my freshman year: Scholar Enrichment Program, Pre-Medical Honor Society, Hospital volunteering during the summer, this thing called 'College for Kids.' I need something to do this year, I would hate to waste and entire year.

So, does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Couldn't you just do hospital volunteering, pre-med club, and some of the others this year, also?

If not, you could join a club. It doesn't have to be a pre-med club. (And hopefully become some sort of officer within the next year.) Hospitals are (usually) always taking volunteers; there's no need to wait until summer. Mentoring/tutoring K-12 students is also an option. It's usually about one hour a week and there are always, always, always opportunities for this.

(Am I the only person that hates the term "clubbin'"? I've heard way too many people use it these past couple weeks, mainly students under 21. 🙄)

Assuming you are a dude cause this is SDN (hence more than likely to be a sausage fest) I would say chill out and get with the ladies. Trust me on this one, your sophomore year will suck as will your junior and senior years. MCAT studying will cause Erectile Dysfunction. Get with as many girls your freshmen year as possible cause after that you will bet super busy as will they.

Now is you chance, cap it and tap it brotha.

Step 1: Do something interesting and cool.

Step 2: Delete your SDN account immediately so you don't become a cookie cutter nerd that asks advice on here every other month.

Step 3: Return to SDN only for help on MCAT / Applying / Etc (Like get an idea that you need clinical experience to apply)

Hospital volunteering is a must. Shadow some Docs if you can too. Do not blow off your first year of college. If you get a bad GPA it will haunt you forever, that being said - plenty of time for fun too. Welcome to premed.

horrible advice.

You are much more interesting if you are doing stuff. Do stuff that interests you, then find ladies in the process.

Having the activity of "getting ladies" makes you a typical horny college kid. Go do things you're interested in and I bet there will be fine ladies around. 2 birds 1 stone bro, YOU FEEL ME!? haha.
