Hi folks! I'm an IM student from Portugal, currently attending 4th year of medical school. I'm usually getting 13/20 grades since my 1st year. But now i want more for usmle step 1. I have exam in june and i need your recommendations (I aim a 99 but anything more than 89+ is great). So, I plan to study about 2/3 hours a day (not everyday of course, at weekends I can study more) and in the last four weeks plan to dedicate 8 hours or more to the cause even if it means miss classes.

So here's the thing, I plan on doing brs, hy and rapid review for each subject (read it 2 times each) then robbins review of patho then only first aid and usmle world tests. And goljian audio.

How many times do you think it may be necessary to read first aid? What do you think I should do on the last 2 weeks? Do you think I have enough time? If you have anything to add please feel free.. I need wise advise here.

Cheers

Hey, I do believe you have enough time but I would try to put more hours into studying, if possible. You should start by taking an NBME and see how much you need to work to achieve your goals. Then you will see what areas need more work and can adjust your schedule based on what you need to do. Start annotating your First Aid with all the materials you use. And as for the last two weeks, since you have time, you will have an idea of what you need to focus on by reading some threads. Everyone is different, but I am going to just focus on UWorld and FA the last two weeks since I have added in all my information into this book from the sources I have used. Read FA as many times as you want until you have it down. If you know FA and UWorld (including wrong explanations as well) down cold, you will be ready to score well on the exam. Keep searching the forum, and keep at it! Good luck!!

BRS Physio
RR Path (with Goljan Audios)
UWorld
FA
Kaplan Biochem
NBMEs

These sources should be sufficient for a 99..

Hi, thanks a lot for your reply! What about medical microbiology made simple and gross anatomy/neuroanatomy books?

I can't study more than that because i have classes.. 🙁

Microbiology made ridiculously simple is supposed to be a good read but you don't need to do it more than once. First Aid micro is enough in my opinion. The book is entertaining in ways. You can read if you want to and it's also an easy read. HY Neuroanatomy is also a good book but I wouldn't know what to read for just anatomy. It's a very broad topic. Maybe BRS Anatomy?! Someone else might have a better idea.
