When a dental student is not studying, going to class or clinic what fun things are there to do in Philly? Movies, Sports, Golf Courses, Ice Rinks, Shopping etc. I know that we will be focusing on the Oral Cavity but lets have some fun! What do you Temple and Penn 007's think? Also, what are the good Dental Frats and do they have anything to offer? Recreation, old tests, lectures for Dentists in the area? Hopefully this will stimulate some thought.

hey noodle,

Yeah, PENN has some dental frats. Actually, when I was interviewing my tour guide invited all of us (the interviewees) to a dental party that night. Unfortunately, I couldn't go. But she said that everyone was invited and people from Temple Dental come over too to experience the Ivy side of things.

Philly is great for us with an exotic palate...so much food. History, museums, parades, and culture. Heck, the declaration of independence was signed there. If you want to reminisce you can go to good 'ol Ben's house or go to the pub he used to get drunk at each night.

If you want to really have a crazy time go to South Street. One of the hippest streets in philly. Or you can play with us real courageous dental folk and meet us on North Broad street where we will be racing our Hummers and using each other for target practice with our laser AK-47's. Right, Tinker Bell? I mean Gingivitus?

So, noodle? Are ya gellin'?

Pat cheeseteak opens 24/7. Or for a little crazy, you can drive to Atlantic City and gamble your tuition fee off. Or drive 80miles to NYC. Or drive down to DC to visit the president. About me, I'll visit the McDonald that has bullet proof drive-in window in my hummer, and sell pixie dust on North Broad St.

There are a billion bars all over Philly. Philly is also named one of the top three cities for food, if not the top. If you looking for shopping, Philly has the largest mall on the east coast. Not to mention Philly has the largest park in the nation, to rollerblade, bike, etc in the summer/fall/spring. Philly also has like 4 major colleges so you know there are parties all over the place. The dental frats party pretty hard, as well as the 15-20 frats at the Penn campus ( Im a DKE at Indiana, and Ive partied with the Penn DKE's), aswell as a thousand things Im sure I havent seen yet, as I have only been there twice, and had all that fun.

Penn's Landing...its a place in Philly you should learn how to get to. Its real simple, Egypt, Cat Man Du, Dave and Busters, and Delilah's Den (for us gentlemen). My uncle has a place with in walking distance. It maybe the reason I dont choose Temple.

NOt cause of my uncle, mind you, cause I know me and I know how I can be.

Philly is gonna be a blast. Man can't wait.

Any of you Philly/SDNers interested in getting together right before school starts to let off some pre-steam? Kind of a pre-party for Philly 007's. I know it's still early but it's just a thought.

I'm up for it!!!

Definitely, I am probably getting down there a week before school starts and will be partying all over the place!

I was born in Philly (yea Jefferson Hospital!), raised just outside of Philly, and attended college just outside of Philadelphia. I can honestly say that there's such a great integration of culture, history, food and fun here - I go to Philly practically every weekend, and I'm very sorry to be leaving actually 🙁

Anyhoo, definitely hit Old City - 2nd street has the best restaurants (Lamberti's, Serrano, Sassafrass Cafe - the list goes on and on) bars (Paradigm) and clubs (Glam et al). First Friday is great too: on the first Friday of every month, you get free admission to the galleries in Old City area - it's usually pretty packed. Delaware Ave is best for clubbing (Egypt, 8th Floor and such), and South Street is good for just hanging out with friends (south st. diner has great late night cheap eats) and has lots of nifty little shops and eccentric crowds. Check out the Ben Franklin Parkway Museums - Franklin Institute Science Museum, Academy of Natural Sciences...and def. see the Philadelphia Museum of Art! If you are a history buff, go to Independence Hall and see the Liberty Bell in the Historical District. Watch an Eagles game in their new stadium (E-A-G-L-E-S eagles! So close to the superbowl this year: DAMN Tampa Bay ) If you like ice skating, go to the Penn's Landing River Rink (or if you are at Penn and don't have time to get off campus, Class of 1948 Bldg has a rink). And Chinatown is also fun - lots of Great food (Penang on 11th street is one of the best fo shizzle) and stores.

I almost wish I wasn't going to NY 🙁....so Yes yes YES you will have PLENTY to do!
