I had a few random questions regarding the various MCAT practice tests offered.

1 - I'm planning to take the MCAT this September, and I haven't taken a practice test yet. I'm still working my way through the review books. I think there are 7 practice tests currently available, would it be advisable to get all of them, or should I only buy a few and space them out in my studying? I've seen a few people that study and then do a practice test every week -- is that something recommended?

2 - Once you buy the exam, do you complete it online on the AAMC website, or are you given a PDF or something? If the former, can you take it multiple times and does it simulate the real testing environment at all?

3 - Lastly, what does CBT stand for? I can't seem to find it anywhere

Thanks for any input

1- Take as many tests as you need to do well. Make sure you thoroughly review your tests though. AAMC tests are best. But the later ones, 7-11 are better tests. With 11 being the most recent.

2- Complete them online in the MCAT student center. Don't bother taking too many tests on PDF etc. Cuz that's not simulating the test environment.

3- CBT = computer based test.

Good luck.

Yes, I think you should take one a week, but make sure you also take the time to review your answers (both right and wrong) to see where you are making mistakes. Don't just take the exam, look at your score and then move on.

The exams give you access to either online or a pdf version that you could print out. Taking the test online is nearly identical to the format of the actual exam. Once you buy an exam, you have access to it for one year, and you may take the exam as many times as you want (although once should be enough).

the purpose is?

To practice coming up with ideas to stupid prompts and writing a cohesive essay in 30 minutes. If you can write 3-4+ paragraphs with solid examples, fully answering the prompt, then you're probably good for test day.

Also, I'm not sure about other test prep companies, but if you are in Kaplan, you can send them your essays and they'll score them for you.

Thanks, does it also give (and maybe explain?) the correct answers for the questions?
