Is it true that it's 4-6 years, 6 if one wants an MD degree? What does the resident do during those two extra years to earn the MD?

They do years 3 and 4 of medical school.

Try doing a search or looking up any Oral Surgery department website. They detail each year of the residency.

I've heard that the OMFS residents use those extra years to troll SDN, building profiles on potential applicants in order to know things about applicants that makes the CIA quiver.
