I am taking summer classes this year, and I am planning to take Microbio and some electives at a community college, is this a bad decision? When I apply for grad programs, will they pick someone that has not taken courses at a community college over me?

I wouldn't worry about it, I took most of my pre-req's at a CC and I got accepted to 6 schools. A few classes won't make any difference.

Did you go from 2 years at CC to Uni?

I always thought it was looked bad if you went from a Uni to CC for your prereqs (its tons cheaper for me, so I usually get my minor/GE requirements out of the way over summer instead of prereqs.

No I went to Uni first and then worked for many years, once I decided to go to Opt School, I had to take many pre-req's, so I took all of them at CC. Was no problem with admissions.
Good Luck!

Same here...I got my BS in '05 and have been taking all my biology and some other courses at a CC. They initially said it wouldn't look as good, but it honestly didin't seem to be a factor during the admissions process.

when you take classes at a CC after you get your BS at a university did you have to transfer your CC credits to your uni or did you turn in two separate transcripts, one from uni and one from CC, when applying to opt school?

What about online classes from credited schools? Are those looked down upon?

Do you mean, online pre-reqs? I'm taking 2 online classes now and did one a couple summers ago, and the schools I contacted said it wouldn't be a huge deal. But, they're for my major and not pre-reqs. (I'm a health science major.) I also asked them a long time ago if taking summer classes was looked down on (I did physics last summer) and they said it wasn't a problem either. But, for pre-reqs, I'm not really sure. I know the CC where I live offers online biology, and I'm not really sure how that happens with a lab.

It's online Statistics, a pre-req for a lot of schools. For some reason it wasn't required for my degree. Since I really dont want to go back to school for the summer, I was looking into taking the online stat class. What do you think?

WOw this is very helpful to know. I'm intending to retake orgo 1 and physics 2 and take some upper level bio courses and it'll help my gpa a lot if i can excel in them in a CC college. I've already gotten a BA in '05 and just looking to finish and excel in some pre-reqs that will make my pre-req GPA a bit more respectable.

I've taken credits at another school during the summer before, and even though the credits were transferred to my regular college I still have to submit a transcript from both schools. I'd imagine it would be the same if you're taking classes after getting your degree.
