Hello everyone I am new to these forums.

Upon finishing my junior year of highschool I averaged about a 92 in regents chemistry. I enjoyed the class and looked forward to the final. Unfortunately I was pretty sick and pretty much rushed myself through the test. I recieved a 73. I'm taking AP chem next year. If I get a 4/5, will undergrad (pre-pharmacy) schools care that I got a 73 on the regents?

I've been so depressed about this lately.

If you're just applying as an undergraduate, most likely the school will look at your overall application and not focus on just one class. Realize that you are applying to the college, not to the major. People change their majors all the time and whatever you put down is pretty insignificant. Mainly it's your GPA as a whole and your SAT/ACT scores that will be looked at as determining factors.

However, once you get into undergrad and prepare to enter pharmacy school, prerequisite classes that the pharm schools require will be looked at. But, one bad grade isn't going to sink you, especially if you can show that you've moved on and can improve.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Pre-pharmacy coursework can be taken at almost any college or university, so unless you're shooting for an 0-6 program, you have nothing to worry about. By the time you finish your pre-pharmacy coursework, nobody's going to care how you did on anything in high school. It's worth noting, though, that most pharmacy schools don't accept AP credits, so you'll probably have to take Chemistry in college anyway. I'd look into that.

if you get a 4, not only will undergrad schools not care that you got a 73 on the regents (i dont know what this is), but most likely, you wont be able to take (part of) the general chemistry series for a letter grade because you would have "passed out" of the course.

an example of this is when i applied to ucsf; on their supp, i would list gen chem pre-reqs as AP rather than an actual letter grade. they told me it was a positive thing, but i felt otherwise. if i actually took the class, i could basically guarantee an A in that course which would have further boosted my gpa.

but....yeah. long story short, you're fine. dont fret too much in hs, you'll have plenty of that in undergrad and beyond
