Hey guys,

My MCAT score was just posted and now I need some help to finalize a good school list for the application cycle this year. My grades are all over the place and I had a few lapses in attendance during my undergrad years, which leaves me unsure about which schools to apply to. So, any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated! Also, I am currently a TX resident with strong ties to CA; grew up there, graduated high school and undergrad in CA (graduated from UCR and lived most of my life in and around the Inland Empire), and immediate family lives there.

I had a strong upward GPA trend during my undergrad; 0.82 Freshman GPA, 3.03 Sophomore GPA, 3.30 Junior GPA, 3.75 Senior GPA, and graduated with 2.78 cGPA/2.95 sGPA. I did a DYI postbacc (technically a second bachelor's) currently at 50 total credits (43 BCPM credits & 7 non-BCPM credits): 3.92 cGPA/3.91 sGPA (AMCAS), 3.94 cGPA/3.93 sGPA (TMDSAS). I am also currently taking summer classes for an additional 9 BCPM credits which I'm hoping to do well in to bring up my GPA more.

This leaves my running overall GPA stats as,
AMCAS: 3.09 cGPA/3.46 sGPA
TMDSAS: 3.56 cGPA/3.72 sGPA; I will be applying in TX under Academic Fresh Start

MCAT: 513 (129, 126, 128, 130)

EC's and general about me stats:
ORM
Trilingual
~8,000 hrs paid clinical
~150 hrs non-clinical volunteering
~900 hrs research (~750 hrs paid research)
1 published abstract (first author) - I'm unsure if an abstract counts as a publication, but it has a DOI; my abstract also culminated into a pilot study
2 poster presentations (first author & third author)

Thank you all for taking the time to read through my post!

Apply to all your Texas MD and DO schools. For AMCAS schools you could try TCU-UNT, Tulane, California University, Kaiser.
Also apply broadly to OOS DO schools and I suggest these:
WESTERN
TUCOM-CA
AZCOM
TUNCOM
OSU-COM
ATSU-KCOM
KCU-COM
DMU-COM
MU-COM
PCOM
Touro-NY
NYITCOM
ACOM
LECOM (all schools)

Thanks, @Faha for your response! Do you think it's worth applying to UCR SOM since I am a UCR alumnus, even though I will be considered a TX resident?

Also, do you think any of the schools from @Goro 's reinvention school list are worth applying to?

As a Texan, stick to TX schools, and UCR.

Since you are alumnus of UCR apply there. Most OOS MD schools interviews few Texas applicants with your stats since they know from years of experience that Texas applicants will attend a Texas school.

@Goro @Faha , thank you guys so much for your help!

Do DO schools outside of TX also have a tendency to be a bit hesitant about extending interview invites to TX applicants?
