Hi,

I applied to a pharmacy intern position a few weeks ago, but I just go their rejection letter today 🙁 . When is a good time to re-apply to this position? I know the best route would be to apply to another pharmacy, but I really want to work there.

I was thinking about calling them and finding out why I wasn't accepted but, I didn't get the pharmacist's phone number. I was suppose to get two interviews, but I got rejected after the first one and the reason why I want to call is because the pharmacist I interviewed said I did really good and asked great questions....guess she was lying or something

Was the position for one specific hospital or pharmacy location? If so, they probably hired someone else. Just because you interviewed well doesn't mean that another intern wasn't more qualified or interviewed even better than you. I doubt the pharmacist was lying.

Typically, the number of positions are very limited. For example, when I was in school, the hospital I interned at was 500 beds, but only had 1 pharmacy intern. All of the retail pharmacies I have worked at have only had 1 intern per store. It may be best to look elsewhere or wait until next year to reapply (maybe the new intern will leave or graduate). Good luck!

I wouldn't call to ask why you didn't get the position. That would put them in an awkward position. I would however send them an email thanking them for the interview, stating why the position would have fitted you well and how you will apply again when another position is available.

Yes, it was for a specific store. You're right, I do have one major weak point, so I should keep looking in hopes that at least one pharmacist around here will be willing to teach me.

I don't have the pharmacist's email either. The email that was sent to me was an automatic message.

Store? You have nothing to worry about, you can easily find another retail job or perhaps reapply as appropriate. What BMBiology said is definitely the most professional way of going about any job rejection.

not as an intern, he can't. Interns positions are getting fewer and fewer. why hire a pharmacist lackey for 20 bucks an hour when you can fish yourself a django right out of the schools

Usually when the class ahead of you is close to graduation is when openings pop up. While I've read that intern positions aren't very easy to find, it was pretty easy to find retail internships where I'm at, so it might vary from area to area.
