i know a lot of schools have GPA cutoffs at a 2.75, if i were you i would call the schools i applied to and find out i had to do something similar because i got a C- in a prereq and couldnt retake it due to school policy and so i called all the schools i was considering applying to and made sure the C- in physics 2 wasnt going to result in an automatic disqualification of my app
when you call all these schools the ones who are gonna reject you anyway i wouldnt give any more money to. im sorry this is happening![]()
im in the same boat..and i was kind of hoping they would over look it lol..what did the schools say?
i was gonna apply to Buffalo, BU, Tufts, NYU, Columbia, Temple, UPitt, VCU, WVU, Case, Marquette, Creighton, ASDOH, and Loma Linda and only Pitt said it would be a problem...so i applied everywhere but there 😀
hey guys
I am wondering if anyone knows the BCP gpa cut off for most schools??
I am feeling really down right now bc my BCP gpa is only 2.73 because there are only a few courses in it as of now since a lot of my anatomy and physiology courses do not count as bios since their course codes are not "BIO" (kin dept.) I think it's ridiculous and schools should look @ course content rather than prefixes... but anyways my overall is 3.43 and my science is 3.41 but my BCP is 2.73 (finishing pre reqs this year...)
I am really discouraged bc i have already been rejected (indiana and midwestern) based on what schools call your science GPA (which is actually my BCP!)
I am just wondering what to do now... I am thinking of not even paying the application fees for some schools if this is the case... why waste money...
Can somebody please provide insight regarding this issue... I feel like schools just screen ur #s and dont actually look @ the full app
I have lots of ECs and my DAT was...
Bio 20, Chem 20, Ochem 20, PAT 20, QR 15, RC 25, TS 20, AA 20
ADVICE please??? it would be greatly appreciated
thank you

i also did get a C- in physics I, however iam retaking so hopefully it wont be a problem since i applied to pitt
umm I don't think that's going to fly at any school.
hey would you mind sharing your stats? also, did you hear back from any of those school (hear back as in interview or rejection?)
umm I don't think that's going to fly at any school.
sure! my predents are under my name if you want a DAT breakdown/some of my ECs but i got a 21 AA, 21 TS, 18 PAT cumGPA 3.3, sciGPA 3.21
so far only a rejection from Case but none of the East Coast schools have sent anything to my knowledge so i've really got my fingers crossed!!
see my previous posts, but ik its not favorable and if i dont get in this cycle i'm saving money so i can retake the course at another university
How important is BCP GPA ? Does any school really look at that ?
I thought the only look at sGPA and oGPA.
apparently when some schools refer to Sci GPA they are actually referring to BCP
also,
i got rejected from midwestern based on BCP
*Edit* Didn't read that some of your classes don't count as bio. In my opinion you should have still put them as part of BCP since they are bio classes regardless of what your school calls them.
unfortunately it DOES NOT count as bio... which makes no actual sense considering course content rather than course name/dept.
this is my problem as I am a kin major...

Many schools have guidelines for GPA, but only a few strictly enforce an absolute minimum GPA. Out of the schools I applied to, only Nova and UCSF pre-screened me out because of my low GPA. I knew they had a minimum GPA requirement, but I applied anyway just in case they might overlook it after looking at the rest of my application. I still have 11 other schools that are currently reviewing my application, and my undergrad GPA was REALLY low so don't lose hope. I know that Detroit Mercy specifically addresses this issue on their website. Here's what it says on their FAQ:
There are many students, who for a variety of reasons, did not perform well academically in their early years. We feel that a minimum grade point average puts them in a hopeless, mathematical dilemma. We are always willing to consider applicants who demonstrate a strong, steady, academic improvement (3-6 terms) within an academically challenging biology program. Such an improving trend in full-time academic studies for all candidates who "appear" to be weak, or not competitive according to the reported cumulative GPA on their application will make you more competitive when compared with other applicants. The best way to do this is by taking a full academic load, heavy in science, at a four-year college or university.
I heard that UoP shares this type of philosophy when it comes to reviewing their applicants (don't take my word for it though). Their low GPA to DAT ratio hints at this. If you want to look at the schools I applied to, just check out my predents profile by clicking the link on the left.
