i have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) like real bad, and panic attacks. i think i had them for years and years and it got to a point where they dibilitated me where i couldnt do any of my daily duties as i explained in my previous posts if u look them up. I remember all through college i couldnt sit and study more than 30 mins and had all the symptoms of ADD, do u guys all think these symptions where due to the untreated anxiety/panic attacks or is there any relationship between ADD and anxiety/panic attacks, anyone who experience either/or or have the knowledge to comment please do so.
Thanks

In human behavior we learned people can have multiple disorders. I never heard of one bringing on the other, but all three could probably influence each other.

A lot of times ADD is a co-morbid disorder. So there is a kinda link in that sense. A lot of ADD people I know also tend to be kind of anxious.

But the thing that's really key in ADD is that they symptoms showed up before you were 7 years old.

The symptoms have to always show that early, isnt there such thing as adult ADD, i mean i remember being hyperactive at my young age but my parents are not educated so they really prob didnt notice or think nothing of it, and i guess since it didnt disable my life ex: school and stuff, i guess i just never thought of it myself , just came to me as i listed above when my anxiety and panic attacks became unbareable and i started getting treated for them.

Well a lot of times anxiety and panic attacks can mask themselves as ADD.. and yes they symptoms must have presented before the age of 7. Adult ADD is childhood ADD in an adult, there is no distinction.. just something strattera made up to market it's drug to adults.

Im no authority in the field but what i can say is this: in my own experiance which hit me at the age of 20 never before that, i started to experiance very obsessive thoughts. These went untreated. They began to get worse and encompus other things in my life, it was like a mean cycle of thoughts which i could not control,(all this time untreated) this then lead to me becomming depressed. The combination of the 2 was kind of like a neurotic depression, which caused me to not be able to sit down and study for more then 20min at a time even though i was able to clearly retain information.
that was my situitation in a nutshell

I think its most likely due to the anxiety issues but you may find that being treated for ADD may benefit you as well

Anybody have link(s) on studies done how ADD, bipolar, GAD, etc affect each other, trigger each other, etc?

PubMed down today?

I know there's correlations between different anxiety spectrum disorders and ADD, not sure of any sort of causative or trigger-like linkages. It's obviously very problematic to diagnose a lot of these different conditions if multiple could exist because they interplay with one another.

It might help to look for this in reverse, e.g. look for drugs that treat multiple disorders and see what the pharmacologic pathways are
