Just trying to figure out what to do this summer

I have already done research with the NIH before, and I really did not like research, mainly because I was kind of in over my head at the time, it was the summer before college. But I feel like I have enough experience

Side note: i've taken the Mcat already

I've worked in some business internship after my first year of college
I've worked in investment banking after my second year of college

I could work at the investment bank in NY that i worked in last summer again this summer, but I decided that I want to go to medical school over working at the bank again, unless I can find a healthcare private equity firm that wants to give me a shot

otherwise, what other options are there for a summer internship program, Paid of course.

Looking for something more relevant for medical school

Look into Hartford Hospital(Hartford, CT).. direct clinical research. Not sure about pay/housing but for juniors and seniors.

I'd avoid clinical research if you want an active role in the process....really hard to do actual research when patients are involved without an MD or PhD. Just my personal experience though.

Check out this thread, I think any of those programs would be your best option:

Hi! I'm a senior in high school right now, and was wondering how you were able to do research with the NIH. I don't have any prior research or clinical experience.

And also, here's a list of summer programs/internships. It seems like most of the undergraduate ones are paid http://www.fhcrc.org/content/dam/public/education/internships.pdf

Idk my physics teacher liked me in high school, he knew a guy that my dad also knew and we got in touch and I was basically just given the research position

I was given another research position during my senior year of high school too

personally I don't enjoy it as much, it's really monotonous

It's basically how most positions work anyway...there's very little meritocracy in the world, just be good enough
