Hi everyone,
I am aware that the general wisdom is to retake pre-requisite courses for which you received a C-. I know that some schools do not accept a C- grade in a prereq course as passing. I carefully researched all schools before applying and found that only several specifically stated that a C- is unacceptable. However, I recently heard back from LECOM that they have processed my application and I received some additional information about their requirements in that same email; namely, that they do not accept a C- as a passing grade. I returned to their site and nowhere could I find a mention of this C- rule. This has got me really concerned about the comprehensiveness of the course requirements section on dental school websites in general. Are there other schools that will not accept a C- in a prereq but fail to mention it anywhere on their website? Or does LECOM just need to get its **** together??
Please do not bother responding just to tell me to suck it up and retake. I've been out of school and busy at work for a job I am fortunate to have for a year now and would rather not put my life on hold just to retake one course and then apply when the odds of my getting in are already against me (3.5 upper div. gpa, 3.3 overall, 19 AA/TS DAT). It would be different if I were a sophomore in college or something and my schedule was more flexible; of course then I would retake. I'd like to avoid retaking Ochem II (my one C- course) unless it is absolutely necessary.
I appreciate your feedback.
