So I have this professor that agreed to write me a letter all the way back in June of 2008. Finally back in February I was able to visit him back where I went to school (I moved away after graduating) and was able to give him the letter packet to send to the letter service and stuff. He agreed to have the letter ready by June 1st and submitted to my school's letter service by the 5th. Well it's not in yet and I'm getting a little worried. I know he will submit the letter but I wanted some ideas how to remind him to get the letter in. Simple right?
Where here is the catch, he never checks his email and is impossible to nail down. Even my friend who was one of his grad students got his thesis delayed because he couldnt be found to drop off his data for review. I have thought of calling his office but I'm sure since he rarely checks his email, I don't know if he will ever check his messages. I know he wants to write me a letter since the last few times I visited the university for alumni things and stuff he talked about how well the letter was coming and how he is nearly finished. So barring that he may have just forgot or decided not to write it, how would the folks at SDN go about this. I've thought of venturing back down there or calling the department's administrative assistant but still not sure.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: I also have his cellphone number but I've never used it and got it during a special studies class when he reviewed over my groups presentation.
