MD & DO Removed

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Welcome to the forums.

Add COMP-NW (Lebanon, OR) in AACOMAS. I presume you don't want to move too far away from Portland, but it is the other in-state option. Have you met the prehealth advisors at PSU?

I have not yet. I was waiting for my MCAT score. I’ll schedule an appointment.

I suggest these DO schools with your stats:
PNWU-COM
WESTERN
TUCOM-CA
TUNCOM
AZCOM
UIWSOM
ATSU-KCOM
KCU-COM
DMU-COM
CCOM
CUSOM
PCOM
LECOM
NYITCOM
Touro-NY
MU-COM
For MD schools you could try these:
OHSU
Roseman
Alice Walton
Belmont
Arizona (Tucson and Phoenix)
TCU
Creighton
NOVA MD
Rosalind Franklin
Medical College Wisconsin
Wayne State
Oakland Beaumont
Drexel
Temple
George Washington
Eastern Virginia
Albany
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Methodist (when it opens)

Thank you for this. With my stats and overall application, I stand a better chance with any of those DO schools on the list versus any of the MD save OHSU, correct? Or am I wasting my time doing MD at all? I’m honestly surprised how many MD were on there — that’s why. I will definitely look into all of them.

You never know. You are coming in as a nontrad with a solid record in your most recent courses. It's a question of how far you want to move away to each of the suggested schools. I would not fixate over MD vs. DO. Connect with the LMSA and SNMA chapter officers who could give you more insight about support you may need.

Appreciate it very much. My husband doesn't want to move far at all from home, especially since we own a house here. West Coast anything is his choice, furthest being Colorado and Chicago. He's had 3 years to prepare for this moment, and he knows this is going to be difficult, but now it's here. I don't blame him for his feelings at all. Applying older and married is hard, and I know residency will be just as hard on us. I truly appreciate all your feedback. I will definitely connect with LMSA and SNMA chapter officers.
