My bet would be cholangitis or gallstone pancreatitis - he probably died of complications of gallbladder disease, not gallbladder surgery.

Hit the large intestine, went home....developed fever, became septic and was in icu...supposedly he was "improving" as of last wednesday...yikes!

intra-abdominal sepsis has a very high mortality. i'm sure the surgeon did not want this outcome, but it's surgery - **** happens.
