Repeat a course or just continue to the next level?

man i am in the SAME position as you. we taking the same class? haha.
jokes aside i am in chem 2b right now as well and i think the summer session was a little more than i bargained for an my prof is known to be quite tough. my final is in 2 days and im pretty sure im gonna end up with a D as well. i could pass with a C if i really pushed it within the next 48 hours but id rather repeat it and absorb the material. its gonna all show up again when you take the dats regardless. might as well ace it and get a killer A next time.

just my two cents 🙂

ive been doing the same thing-but my other class is physics. and i have an A in that but chem is wupping my butt. i sleep on avg 3 hours too-4 if im lucky, and its usually me falling asleep as im reading my notes between 2-5/6 am. and then class it at 7:30 am. ughh...just thinking about it gives me the shivers. yeah im def doing a retake of that class. im just going to show up to the final and write my name. and go home and sleep. no joke

I would recommend taking Chem III if you pass the Chem II class unless you feel like you really lack understanding of Chem II. Dental schools will expect you to get A in Chem II if you retake the class. If you get A in CHem III, it shows that you are capable of handling harder class. Also, if you are interested, i would recommend taking another upper level chem class instead of retaking Chem II.

I'm pretty disappointed with my ChemII (on the quarter system) score this summer and won't be surprised to get a D in the class. The material is going by way too fast for me and I'm really struggling. Normally it's a 10 week course, but it's only offered B term during the summer, so it lasts just 2.5 weeks. I'm also taking Bio right now and have an A in that class, but chem is kicking my butt. I'm wondering if I should continue with ChemIII during fall (assuming I can get a passing grade to continue) or retake it. How will this look on my application? I got an A in chemI during the spring, so this is a huge drop for me.

Some schools will not accept a C- on any of the pre-requisites so I suggest you retake it or figure a way to get a C.

All schools will not accept a C- or below on any prereq course which means every bio, chem, ochem, and physics class. Getting a low grade will always look bad regardless of whether you take it again and get an A the next time because it is not replaced. So do your best and get the highest grade possible imo.

When you retake a class are the 2 grades averaged when calculating your cGPA? Or does the higher one replace the lower one?
