Hi,
I am thinking of transferring out of my current program. There is a possibility that I may have to repeat PGY-🙁( My question is do I need to go through the Match again for PGY-1 spot or the PD can offer me a position outside the Match? Should I contact PDs directly for the info?

You would be considered an Independent applicant and as such are allowed to accept contracts outside of the match. However, to maximize your chances you might consider going through the match again just in case your transfer idea doesn't work out.

Yeah, I agree...
If you can find a PGY2 position, you don't need to go thru the match, but you might not find one out there...

Re-applying gives you more selection, but you have to redo the intern year... also, people will want to know why you are wanting to switch programs, as this is a potential red flag (in both options mentioned)
