Hey everyone. I took a non-prerequisite botany class last Spring and ultimately changed it to a pass/fail basis. The class was ridiculously time consuming and I had the MCAT to take that semester. I then retook the class over the summer for an A. Some of my secondaries ask me to explain any classes retaken. How should I explain this? I don't think I should go with the "too much work/hard teacher" explanation. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Say that you were very interested in the material but due to the MCAT couldn't devote as much time as you wanted to it. Then you retook it so that you could learn it in depth.

sorry to deviate from the original question, but is it bad to make a class pass/fail? why did you take it again? I'm taking a science class this semester that I'm not really using to fulfill any requirements and was thinking about making it pass/fail just in case I miss a few classes, etc due to interviews. so should I not make it pass/fail? I guess I could do well but I would just have to devote some more time to it... thanks!

Long story short, I had MCAT and a hard instructor for the course. I knew I wasn't gonna be able to put the hours in to get an A or even a B. I repeated because the class is required for degree. Took it with easier prof.

As to whether it's bad or not, I really don't know. But it's the only class I've taken P/F in college, so it shouldn't be too bad.
