Is repetition bad? I imagine it's unavoidable to some extent. By repetition I mean saying the same thing during the interview that you said in your secondary. And saying the same thing in your secondary that you said in your primary.

Its definitely tricky avoiding repeating word for word whats in a secondary/primary during an interview, especially because after 20-30 of them you've found the best way to word them. What I've found worked during my interviews was to elaborate more than what was in the primary/secondary. After all, you were only allotted so much space and they're trying to get to know you beyond what you are on paper.

You should treat each step of the app process as an opportunity to advocate for your candidacy, which includes fleshing out more dimensions and sides to yourself through your secondaries and interviews without being repetitive.

If you've done a lot of volunteering/ECs throughout college, you should have a variety of experiences to talk about to fit different prompts that your secondaries will ask for. If you haven't, its up to you to be creative in talking about how your experiences have shaped your course towards medicine.

There's absolutely no issue in referring back to your personal statement or to certain things on your application, especially if the interviewer doesn't know a thing about you. You should elaborate on things and perhaps tell them about things that aren't in your application that they should perhaps know about.
