Subject: Inquiring about Grade Replacement in GPA calculation.

Dear Sir or Ma'am,

I am inquiring about grade replacement in GPA calculations used for AACOMAS. I have a history of bad grades with one institution from about 8 years back (due to immaturity). Since then I have matured and decided to get a fresh start at another college; I am currently finishing up my B.S. in Clinical Lab Sciences at another college, with ~3.6. It is my understanding that you take the most recent grade to use in the calculation. My question pertained to what if a class was taken at one institution and then the student took the same class at another institution at a later date. Many colleges give the same courses different names, depending on the college and I was wondering how this is determined. I have retaken nearly all the same courses to make sure my GPA was high enough to apply to med school.

Thank you for your time.

The above quote is directly from an Email I sent AACOMAS

Hope that answers your question.

It is my understanding you submit ALL your transcripts and there is a drop down box that allows you to pick to overwrite a previous grade...

I don't guess there's any way to drop a grade from a course is there? I took a Folk Dancing class because some friends were taking it and we thought it would be an easy A. It was insane, we had to learn over 30 dances and long story short, I got a C. haha, it sucks to have Folk Dancing pulling your GPA down.

Nope, it is either a retake or just having to suck it up. Don't feel too bad, I can't wait to explain how I possibly got an "F" in Intro to Coaching (back in the days when I registered for school to make my parents happy and then never went) I did repeat it with an "A", but adcoms will still see that "F" in a cake course.

Will DO Adcoms see it? I thought they would just see the most recent grade. Do they still see all grades, but just calculate GPA based on most recent grades in each course?

Replacing grades is to calculate your GPA, it is still very visible. I don't think you have too much to worry about as many more people have bigger skeletons in their closet that are visible than a "C" in dance class.

I have a question about the DO application allowing new grades to replace old grades. I've gone to a few difference universities over the past 10 years. Say I took a physics course without lab at one university, and a stats class at another. Now at my current university I'm taking a stats I and II class and a physics with lab. Would these courses replace grades from old universities? In other words, can I replace grades from 5-10 years ago taken at other schools? They're basically the same classes, but there's no way to find an exact replacement. How does that work?

Does anyone else feel like this post reads like a question from standardized testing? Okay he went 10 years ago, took physics here ... lab here, and stats and, and .... damn too much, I'm gonna circle this bubble and move on.

I was the same way my first semester... i failed freshman orientation.
Everyone always says "How do you fail freshman orientation?? All you have to do is show up!" And this, of course, is exactly why I failed.

Lets see, you were in a car accident, your head is bleeding, your back hurts, you've lost the feeling in both legs... I'm just going to give you a flu shot and get to my next patient.

Interesting ... here you are asking completely ******ed, five second search engine questions, yet mock my ability to solve problems. "Lets see, you come to the forums clueless, your head is empty (ergo your inability to see the 'search engine'), you've lost the ability to sense humor ... I'm just going to call you a ***** and move on to my next thread "

I can't wait for you to diagnose my illness!!

If folk dance was too hard, may I suggest a career outside of medicine??
