Hi all - I got my first speeding ticket this year. I was going 80mph in a 55mph zone (I thought it was 65mph but realize that I was still speeding). To be fair, I was very late to a relative's memorial service but I know I should have been more careful. Anyway, I got a ticket and 6 points on my license (NYS). I didn't contest the ticket because I figured the cop had evidence and I would have had to take a day off from a rotation to go to court (which is >100 miles from where I live), so I didn't think it was worth it. I paid the ticket and my driver responsibility fee right on time. I did not get charged with reckless driving or anything like that, just got a speeding ticket.

Does this have to be reported on ERAS? I know this might seem like a ridiculous question but I am very worried and mad at myself (also ironic that I have been driving for years and the first time I get a speeding ticket is in a time frame that might actually matter). I don't want to seem irresponsible. Thanks for your advice.

I don't think so, but read the questions carefully. Usually, it'll say something like 'have you ever been convicted of a felony?" (No.) 'Have you ever been convicted of a crime, other than a minor traffic violation?' (No) 'Have you ever been charged with a crime, other than a minor traffic violation?' (No) 'Have you done anything that would make you ineligible for a license in x state?' (No)

As long as it's just a speeding ticket, they usually don't care. And even if you have to answer yes, and explain that you got a speeding ticket, no one will care. They want to weed out those who won't be able to get a license or DEA number.
